Biography

Yuri Yamamoto was born in Matsue, Japan and grew up in Tokyo.

She was 3 years old, she was so fascinated by her neighbor playing the piano that she asked her parents to take piano lessons.

 

She graduated with Bachelor and Master degrees at the Kunitachi College of Music (Tokyo). During these years she studied not only solo piano, but also song construction on the piano.

 

During her musical instruction in Japan she took piano lessons with Yuka Yamagami, Kumi Ashida, Yuriko Yoshida, Minoru Umemoto and Kouichi Yasui, song construction lessons with Akiko Hoshino, Chiharu Hanaoka and Tadayuki Kawahara and chamber music lessons with Kayo Miki and Akira Imai.

 

In 2013 she came to Germany and in 2015 she graduated the master of piano concert solist at the Nuremberg University of Music with Bernhard Endres. In 2017 she completed the master degree of chamber music (piano duo) at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich with Prof. Yaara Tal and Andreas Groethuysen.

 

In addition, she was educated by Michel Béroff, Mitsuko Shirai, Konrad Richter, Antony Spiri, Wolfgang Manz, Siegfried Mauser, Paul Badura Skoda, Dirk Mommerz, Donald Sulzen and Antti Siirala.

 

Since March 2015 she received the scholarship from YEHUDI MENUHIN Live Music Now Franconia and since April 2016 also from YEHUDI MENUHIN Live Music Now Munich.

 

She has won numerous national and international competitions, such as the competition, the Japan Piano Competition, the Classical Music Competition (Japan), the International Music Competition Euterpe (Italy) and as the Piano Duo Lu & Yamamoto she was qualificated for her participation in the internationally renowned ARD Music Competition.

 

She is the pianist of the "Munich oratoriochoir" and regularly gives concerts as a soloist, in piano duo and with singers. She was celebrated by her audience on numerous performances in Germany, Austria, Italy, Latvia, Japan, Taiwan and Shanghai.
